This movie simply doesn't merit any higher than a 4 out of 10. The actors are good and they did their jobs well - however when you have a story that doesn't engage the audience - it's doesn't matter how good the acting is. The story could have been a very engaging and thought provoking character study - but it was very flat and I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. Yes - they all ended up where they were supposed to be - but who cares - there was development or growth. If there had been an epilogue at the end that showed where each character ended up a couple of years later - it might have saved the movie enough to give it a 5 out of 10.

Such negative reviews!!! It is a thinking person's movie... not an action thriller... deal with it. De Niro and Norton put in an amazing performance as they play off each other. The ending is left open ended which on the surface seems unfulfilling but it causes you to think about the movie over and over in your mind. A slice of life movie of a man who finally reveals his true self to the world and another how finds who seems to find peace... but you are not sure.

I didn't pay to see this movie and I still was disappointed. I was looking for it. Great actors on the menu but... the recipes was really bad and someone left it on the burner to... One of the worst movies of the year.

I was disappointed. I was expecting a great suspense, I thought the idea was perfect for a very good suspense but it's not what I got. Great actors, well done but not at all what I was expecting. Would have waited for the DVD.

Movie made no sense. You think that the ending will clear it all up, and when it doesn't you're just left dissapointed! I wouldn't even bother watching it on dvd. Shame, cause you would think that with those actors you would be in for a treat! Thumbs down :(

It was BooorrriiinnnG. I couldn't last beyond the first hour and had to leave. What a let down knowing how great De Niro and Norton usually are. I agree with the other reviews and rating it a 4 is kind of generous.

This might not be the easiest film but it was very well done. Just because a film provokes feelings that you might not enjoy or isn't shoving palatable entertainment down your throat doesn't make it a 'disappointment'. This film is extremely provocative, the friend that I went to the show with was so angry she felt compelled to walk out, and that makes it a wonderful success and when is Ed Norton not amazing?

Won tickets to the premiere. My husband and I both agreed that we were very disapointed in this movie that went NOWHERE. I was looking forward to DeNiro and Norton but the film fell short. Norton just played a much weaker version of the character he played in Primal Fear. Meh... if you really want to see it, wait for it to come out on DVD.

I agree with the previous reviews. This movie is not good. Such a disappointment, cuz I expected so much better from De Niro and Norton. It started out good and then it seemed to go nowhere, I can't even explain what the plot of the movie is... Not worth it, even if it was free.

Crappy movie. First quarter of the movie is good. Acting all through is good. First quarter - the premise/foundation is laid down (w some good dialogue) and all is going well and then nothing - absolutely nothing. Plot goes nowhere. They couldn't get the story straight at any point. There is no sense to the movie after that first quarter and I marveled once again at how people survive in this industry when they make movies like this. Now the rating: hard not to give it a 5 because the rating of 5 means that should you see the movie if you don't have to pay. Well the movie was a waste of time except for the 1st part. And the rating of 5 applies to the first quarter of the movie. So the overall rating I am still keeping it at 4 though 2 is also appropriate if it wasn't for the good actors who still did a great job.

I really wanted to enjoy seeing De Niro and Norton teamed up again but this movie was so slow and near pointless that I lost all interest. The last twenty minutes saw a few people leave the theatre and I was barely hanging on myself. The story never materialized into something worth feeling for one way or another. This movie is not worth your time unless perhaps you get to watch it for free and have some time to waste.
