I found this movie little annoying. I just don't know why but I do. Still worth seeing.

Horrible. To me, the worst let-down is that the preview made it look pretty good. Will Smith is a top-notch performer, and Rosario Dawson besides being gorgeous is a very solid actress. Acting? Check. Story? Almost check. Directing and editing? FAIL! Music was good though. It had all of the elements in place to succeed, but too many unanswered questions (no doubt intentional on the director's part) The scenes tie together in a very piecemeal way, and although many emotions are very intense (and well acted), it is often lost in the annoying way the scenes are put together. It had no flow! I also dislike unnecessary details in a film, like suicide by jellyfish. Sorry, but no. It is also not clear why Will's character has to find 'good' people to leave his gifts to. It is also extremely irritating how the very nicely developed love story got abruptly cut short by his decision to follow through with his 'plan'. [...] Sorry.

Many conflicting emotions when watching this movie. Very good performance by the actors.

Well acted by Will Smith (What else is new) but there was just something missing... I found myself tuning out sometimes... it was a little long at just over 2 hours... could have been 10-15 minutes shorter and more interesting...

"5 - So-so; worth it if you don't pay" is the rating I chose because that's exactly what the film warrants. I admire Will Smith's work. He does not do poor films normally, but this one is a glaring exception. At the 17:00 minute Mark, I knew EXACTLY what the rest of the movie would hold. Geez, even my HUSBAND knew what to expect by 26 minutes! There are no surprises, at least noteworthy ones. Plot twist? There IS no plot twist. It unfolds precisely as expected. The basic premise is simplistic to the point of being sophomoric; perhaps more suited to the credible, impressionable 10 to 13 age group. Adults are likely to find this movie frustratingly simple-minded, yet high-handed. The message, if you can call it that, is pounded into you from the opening scenes, and still blasted stridently even as the credits start to roll. This isn't a profound story, but rather a self-serving, fatuous, stuffy, 'story of the week' kind of 'Hallmark' effort. It's the kind of thing one would expect to see on TV on Sunday evening, between "America's Funniest Videos" and a re-hashing of "Lassie Come Home." Don't bother renting it, unless you want to see a really nice box jellyfish. By the way, the sting of the box jellyfish is a blood-borne neurotoxin, which would render ALL tissues and organs completely unsuitable for transplantation. Hey, perhaps THAT'S the plot twist everyone was talking about! NOW I get it!!

This movie really moved me, in fact, I bawled through most of it. Well-acted, great plot, but pretty depressing points.

This movie was so great, because it was so real, it could totally happen. That is what can make a movie so perfect, the way it opens up your perception, to the true human essence... not to mention your heart and soul.

While it was a long movie, I believe it was worth it. It is a must see! I cant believe people can even complain or give this movie low ratings.

This movie was one of the worst, most slow moving movies I've seen since Cold Mountain. It took forever to get to the plot and by the time it got there I didn't care about it, nor any of the characters. I had ABSOLUTELY no feeling for any one character in this stupid, drawn-out, mess of a film. The acting was waaayyy over the top, actually laughable! Horrible waste of time and money!!! Consider yourself warned!!!

There seemed to be such an honest relationship between Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. The story line beyond their relationship just makes it all the more amazing.

The trailers never really told what the movie was about, so I went knowing nothing much about it, and found it to be one of Will Smiths best.

Great movie, but perhaps the keepers of this web site should have reviewed the comments prior to posting, as one idiot actually gives away the ending; pls remove that particular review so that this idiots' entry does not continue to spoil the movie for others.

I don't think this movie is any more spectacular seeing on the big screen as compared to waiting a few months and watching it on HD-DVD, but it is a good movie. If you are expecting big surprises, action or laughs, this isn't for you. But if you enjoy a well written story that really affects your emotions and makes you consider thinking about the direction of your life, then you will really enjoy this movie.

I have to admit I didn't like the story much, but the movie was so well made that it left a great impression on me. I thought watching Will Smith's Oscar-winning performance in this movie well worths the price of admission. He's simply fantastic.

I love Will Smith and this movie displays his great acting abilities. I'm not sure this is so much for men but all women can definitely appreciate it; it's a magical love story that has one of those endings you didn't see coming - not like every other movie where you know what's going to happen next. If you're going to see this movie make sure you take a box a tissue!!

Boring, anti-climactic, so-so acting especially from Will Smith (and I'm a HUGE Will Smith fan) The trailers made the film seem so special so I was really disappointed. The characters are crying from beginning to end - I was like "enough already!". I probably wouldn't even see it again as a rental, but if you really want to see it, wait until it comes out on DVD.

Well ladies and gentlemen of the jury, there are so many different reviews here on this one that I am going to have to give it a 9 for originality. I have to confess that I kept thinking," what the frig is going on" and then I thought, in film making that it is a good thing. It's good to wonder what is going on. There is a definite payoff at the end and it's definitely worth the wait.

Awesome acting, but the story was hard to follow. There was no explanation of events until the very end, so one was led to believe that all events were random. I would class this as a rental movie only.

The movie had okay acting... it was too overhyped by Oprah about a big surprise. You knew what was happening half way - predictable. There was no surprise. Very slow and boring. I almost wanted to get up and leave and get our money back. I am sooo glad I did not use my Scene points to see the movie for free! I was really trusting Oprah that this movie looked good, but it was not. I've seen a similar concept of movie with Clint Eastwood and that movie was 150% than this one. Sorry Will - I love you, but not this movie!
